EkoForum - Forum for Sustainable Development and Protection of Environment is a recently formed non government organization, and the only one of its kind in Serbia and Montenegro.

Our main goals are research, and promotion of general awareness of the sustainable development and protection of environment and ecology.

To succeed in this EkoForum:

  • Collects and processes the scientific and professional texts in the area of the sustainable development and protection of environment and ecology
  • Independently or with other groups organizes specialized gatherings, meetings, consultations, seminars, workshops, and other types of professional education in this area
  • Publishes books and publications about the sustainable development, protection of environment and ecology
  • Organizes professional staff for professional and research projects from the area of the sustainable development, protection of environment and ecology
  • Organizes research projects and workshops from the area of the sustainable development, protection of environment and ecology
  • Cooperates with schools, universities, professional associations, and other organizations in the country and abroad, which deal with the sustainable development, protection of environment and ecology.

In Serbia and Montenegro very little attention is given to sustainable development and ecology, and their importance, in local media and general public.

Our organization is trying hard to change this relationship in public, and therefore has formed recently a new web site - www.ekoforum.org.yu. Beside the basic information about sustainable development and world trends in this area, this site presents the public with up-to-date news and overview of pollution and threats for water, air, grounds, animal and plant species in Yugoslavia, and other educational articles (also has a page in English and French where you can find short information on what is EkoForum and its projects).

This Internet presentation was developed by professional journalists - members of EkoForum, who attended a specialized journalism course with the Reuters agency which was organized by Reuters Foundation, Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt and Bellagio Forum for Sustainable Development in Berlin, at the end of the year 2001 - see: www.bfsd.org/activities/mediaprog/berlin.htm.

EkoForum plans to complete some other projects in this year, with which all interested can find out on our web site presented in the English and French language.
